Hi Jasen,
(Thursday May 07 1998 19:20) Jasen Betts to TED MENKS about: parsing
JB> my solution: Use GREP to find the matching line(s) :)
What is GREP? What is it part of, and where does one find it?
JB> pipe the output to a "do" "for" or "input" for further processing.
I'm afraid you missed the point of what part is giving trouble. It's *not*
finding or reading the correct line that kills me, it's *processing* the
ata.
A line may contain more than one parameter, and some of the parameters may
consist of several "words". Assigning these parameters to a number of
variables correctly is the issue.
JB> 4dos sucks at handling general text files.
Partly you may be right, but that makes it even more desirable for me to make
it work using ONLY 4Dos ;-)
Anyway, I'm glad you're showing interest in the question I brought up.
