subject: Duplicate Records

Hello,
I'm new to using Access. Is there a way I can set Access up when designing a
form that it will alert me when I am keying in a duplicate record. I would
like the option to continue with that record or not put it in at all. I'm
keying in a lot of names and I'm not sure if some of them are duplicates or
not. I would like Access to alert me at the time I'm typing in the record
that it is a duplicate. I tried input (something like that) in the table
when I was setting it up. I picked Yes (duplicates) but it didn't work. I
don't think I just called it the right thing. It's in the Field Properties
section. I chose the Indexed - Yes, duplicates I think, but it didn't work.
If anyone is familiar with Goldmine (the contact manager program), that
program alerts you of duplicates when you are typing in the records. That's
what I want to do with Access. I like Access much better because you can do
a lot more things, but I need that particular function. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks and take care.
   Sylvia
