When you leave the computer on and have a full time internet connection it
tends to take on a new usage pattern. It's sort of like a phone, people
call you on the computer via ICQ or whatever IM you use and you hear them
so you go check, you tend to check your email more often, etc. because its
always right there ready to go.

Oh and I don't understand the physics of it but ICQ always goes off as soon
as you go into the bathroom.
