JP>JK> amounts of work. And that they are sometimes very
JP>JK> intelligent folks who gave their not so intelligent school
JP>JK> teachers and local authorities all kinds of problems.
JP>You have an amazingly obvious problem with authority figures.
IT began with a Sunday School superintendant who tried to convince me
that creationism was superior to biology. Ever since that episode, I
have used my constitutional rights to question everything that someone
tries to get me to believe.
And I have found, over the years, quite a few who really didn't have the
faintest clue about what they were talking about, just like the Sunday
School super. The person who taught biology at the time just happened
to be Jewish, and I also knew the other person in my church who was in
his classes at the time. I learned about anti-semitism very young also.
JP>JK> My understanding is that very bright young folks can get an
JP>JK> entry level job in Microsoft or some other computer firm JP>JK>
these days and earn millions.
JP> Emphasis on VERY bright and millions is reaching... unless you mean for
the
JP>company. Average for a four year degree with two years experience is 40K,

JP>have a friend who is a head hunter. (six years minumum, 24 years old or
JP>older)
And I have a daughter with an M.A. who was recruited by both Boeing and
Microsoft. Her son is studying for his basic Microsoft test and has
decided not to go with that firm also.
Right now it is no secret that we cannot find enough of our own citizens
for the high tech jobs at Boeing, Microsoft, Intel and others. Which is
why they are hiring people from other nations. And our own kids, who
lack a decent high school education, are not qualified for them.
Except those who were lucky enough to have parents who were into
robiotics and computers and some of it wore off on them.
Our schools are more interested in what is politically correct than
teaching kids to compete in a global job market.
JP>JK> Much better than trying to steal that amount. JP>JK> And much
more accepted by the community at large.
JP> You do not understand the complexity of the drug problem. First they get
JP>hooked, then they do binges, at that point they LOSE THEIR JOB and resort
to
JP>stealing to get what they want. I deal with these people every day and
hey
JP>see nothing more than the fix in front of them.
I not only understand it, I have been studying it as a professional for
at least the past 28 years and have held a license as a professional
counselor in two states in chemical dependency! I have also held
nationwide certification.
The problem begins with lousy brain chemistry which the individual tries
to fix with drugs instead of diet and exercise. Our lousy habit of
allowing children to have junk food at an early age instead of taking
the time to properly prepare food for them contributes to this problem.
I just downloaded an article from the Seattle Times entitled "Study
finds genetic link to addiction" by Thomas H. Maugh II in the Los Angles
Times: www.seattletimes.com/news/health-science/html98/addi_030498.html
which states: "The genetic combination identified by researchers at the
M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston helps control the so-called
reward-pleasure center in the brain, the team reports in the Journal of
the National Cancer Institute.
"A similar genetic pattern has previously been associated with an
increased susceptibility to alcoholism, drug abuse, compulsive
  overeating, and pathological gambling.
"Such people "do not experience the normal pleasures or rewards of
life," Noble said in an interview. "To compensate, they use substances
like alcohol, drugs and nicotene to stimulate the brain.....to increase
 rewards or pleasure."
"The key to the new findings is the gene for a protein called DRD2, one
of five known dopamine receptors. Dopamine is one of the major
neurotransmitters responsible for carrying signals from one cell in the
brain to another. It binds to receptors on the surface of brain cells,
triggering further activity."
"Interestingly, the same variants of the DRD2 gene have previously been
linked to other forms of addiction as well, ranging from drug abuse to
overeating. This suggests that individuals who exhibit these behaviors
have a common chemical abnormality in the brain that simply manifests
itself in different ways, Noble says."
IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I QUOTED, then you haven't the first clue
as to what drug abuse is all about or how to treat it.
For those who are reading, if addiction to anything is a problem in your
family, then find a therapist who does understand the brain chemistry
involved and who will first do an intake that uncovers it, and second
can tell you how to eat right to minimize the problems it produces.
JP>JK> Then we might see an end to the pressure to build more
and JP>JK> more prisons which should not be needed at all.
JP> Utopia is a great place.
JP>JK> Oh yes, stop drugging the school kids for administrative
JP>JK> convenience.
JP> Back to that problem with authority. Drugging children is a decision made
JP>between the parents and the doctor. I have yet to meet a principle who is
JP>licensed to prescribe and dispense drugs.
