Ah, I see, I'm not so sure there is a lot of loss in the friction but every little saving counts! Instead of the friction perhaps a direct gearing drive would improve the efficiency you say? Hmmm, that would involve placing the dyno closer to the hub and adding a gear to the wheel with a smaller gear on the dyno to preserve the original ratio.
