Not many apps handle that properly, it's quite uncommon - but on the other
hand it's not difficult to do. The windows message for shutdown is separate
from application shutdown, so they could check it and do an application
shutdown like a normal app close, but simply assuming the user clicks
"Yes" to save all data. Takes about 10 lines of code to do
properly, and I've only seen two or three apps ever do it right - even
server stuff sometimes doesn't do this properly.
...and I'm still not saying it's ok for MS to shutdown the machine automagically.
