Of course, the recent EULAs for Windows have dictated that we cede control
of all our PCs to Microsoft. Back at SP3 for Windows 2000, I
had to make a decision - to continue to update my PC with security fixes
and cede control of my PCs to Microsoft, or to retain control of my own PCs
and be a security risk on the internet.
I decided to be a good internet citizen, and keep my PCs patched with the
latest Windows security updates. However, I also decided that using
Windows as my OS was not compatible with the long-term plans of how I want
to use my computers. The first result of the latter decision was
the purchase of a Mac Mini Core Duo last month, along with the appropriate
KVM to allow for the Mac Mini, my Wintel box, plus two other boxen (I'll be
looking at Linux as well) to use my keybpoard, monitor, mouse, speakers,
and USB items.
