I think his point is that sometimes children suffer because their parents
ake
the doctor's word as gold (adults suffer for the same reason) yet the doctor
has made a diagnosis he/she wasn't qualified to make and prescribed a
treatment that is ineffective or worse.
That really does happen, and I think that because of our deteriorating health
care system, there is evidence that it happens more and more frequently, as
does its counterpart, FAILING to diagnose or treat people who need help.
