Hi, Ardith... AH> Not to worry... people often write at erratic intervals in this AH>echo, AH>depending on their own state of health (or whatever). The volume of mail AH>tends AH>to drop off around Christmas too because it's a busy time for many people. AH>:-) Too busy. AH> Well... if it's anything like Nora's treatment for leukemia, the AH>cure AH>may seem worse than the disease at first! The doctors use some very heavy AH>duty AH>stuff to get folks into remission, but the protocol is easier later on.... He is real weak, and hasn't had much of an appetite lately. Janice and I went over to my parents house Tuesday to walk him a bit. He is drinking Bulgarian buttermilk, and he likes that. He is also hallucinating from not eating, and from the medicine. AH>one of the side effects of Gravol is (guess what??) nausea & vomiting. We AH>quit AH>using Gravol, and she didn't throw up any more or less often as result.... Want to really torture a rat (rodent)?? Give them Gravol...as they can't vomit. (I know...warped humor ). AH> Ah... I think one's prior experience does play a part here! I had AH>to AH>suppress my gag reflex on many occasions when Nora threw up or had a smelly AH>BM. I've always had a vety sensitive gag reflex...any work in the back of my mouth or where a tube had to go down, they had to spray a chemical on the gag reflex to numb it. AH>But when I was alone with her & my husband was going to be at work for the AH>next AH>eight hours, I didn't have anybody else available to do the cleanup. I doub AH>a AH>nurse who expects others to do it would be popular with her colleagues.... One of the veterinary technicians we know (and some of the nurses at the clinic my wife and I go to) draw the line at vomiting...whether its from a human or an animal. AH> So you're supporting him as best you can... that's good. I trust AH>you AH>will continue to talk to him on the phone or whatever, as you've been doing. It may be just a matter of time now...we've done a lot of praying, and it's truly in God's Hands. We know it's incurable, but when he finally does cross over, we'll have a bunch of good memories. My late grandmother died of lung cancer in 1993...she went down hill fast a month before she died. But, she was a real card at times. One Sunday after church, my parents and her were playing pinochle (my Mom despised the game). Well, my Dad was studying his cards as if he had all the time in the world...when, without warning...out of the blue, my late grandmother exclaimed "Well, s*** or get off the pot!!". I about fell off the couch I was laughing so hard. :) She also didn't care if the preacher was standing there...she spoke her mind...much to the embarassment of my parents!! --- þ OLX 1.53 þ Real Sysops put a BBS up as a service...NOT an ego trip!! --- SBBSecho 2.11-Win32* Origin: The Thunderbolt BBS 501-224-0915 wx1der.dyndns.org (1:382/33) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 382/33 61 140/1 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
