Geoworks, or should I say GEOS (Graphical Environment Operating System), came
into being for the old Commodore 64, about 1983. Later versions were designed
for the Apple II and the Commodore 128.
The company that started all this was called Berkeley Softworks, the name
change to GeoWorks (and later Geoworks) came around 1990. (just roughly).
The C64/128 versions are still in wide use today, and the COMP.SYS.CBM
Newsgroup on the Internet and CBM-GEOS echo on Fidonet are still carrying a
lot of Geos related traffic.
I do the art direction for a C64/128 magazine called Commodore NETWORK which
has a major, and popular, section called Geosgenie, written by Jane
Voskamp-Jones.
