Same here, it's under ...\Temp\Temporary Internet Files. I still have the
"old" path as well, and there are files there, but the index.dat
file is in the new location.

     No it's not.  Something is wrong on your system.  Check
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders for a value named Cache.  It should be REG_EXPAND_SZ with
value %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files.  Under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders the same value should have the expanded path to the same location.

             Put your paranoia away.  It has always been this way.  The
index file has the entries for the deleted files deleted but not zeroed.  A
new feature of IE7 is to zero this file.

             If you are complaining about some other "special
purge" program
you should go whine to them.

And this just
            changed recently (like with the april IE patches as it used to
be
            profile/local settings/temporary internet files/content.ie5
(which is still
            there btw). Must have been some sort of an effort to break the
special purge
            programs that are available.
