subject: Bacteria cloud

Greetings Robby,
-=[ Quoting Robby Dittmann to All ]=-
:R: advice I got was that this a bacteria cloud, and the best way to get rid
of
:R: it was to do 40-50% water changes every few days or so, because the
:R: bacteria were too small to get strained by my filter. We've been doing
:R: this for several weeks, and also adding some water clearing chemicals (I
:R: dont remember the brand name). Unfortunately there's been no change.
Does
I'm afraid you had some bad advice or you missunderstood the person that was
offering to help.. If you'd changed 40-50% of the water once and vacuumed the
substrate and added an ammonia detox, then you'd be fine by now with your
normal 10% weekly or 20% bi-weekly water changes..
As it stands now, you just need to wait out the normal nitrogen cycle because
you've removed most of the good bacteria.. Let it alone for 10 to 14 days and
you should be back in business.. Oh, and remember to feed lightly during this
time :-)
