I'll use an abacus before I use vista. I don't need a computer that is
programmed by people with no respect for the users.
You know.. It used to be that Apple owned the desktop back in the days of
the ][, then they went whole hog for the Mac crap (jobs and his frell the
users they don't know anything attitude), it was a pig, it was slow, it
lacked features that knowledgable users needed. In the end that move sunk
apple and they lost the market to the PC.
Microsoft is following that exact same path today, they are making the same
mistake of now ignoring the knowledgable user in favor of newbies and pig
feature sets (the reason your hardware is rated so highly). It was for a
time that MS had Win9x for the masses and NT for the serious users, that
led to MS gaining even more market share and their current standing in the
market place.
Ignoring those same leading users, the people who everyone else asks for
advice, is a bad move and is going to result in Windows becoming a minority
set of the OS used on desktops. I don't think any other OS is going to get
as dominant as windows has been, I think windows is going to lose control
and the desktop is going to fragment as a result. This will probably become
obvious to everyone in 2-4 years time.
