I'm using 1600x1200 and it seems OK. Lots of space for both the stuff I
want to see and the annoying newbie stuff.

However, when I move and resize windows, they don't seem to remember their
new size and placement from one invocation to the next.

The Vista equipment rater gave my kit a "1". It seems to weigh
heavily on gamers. The hardware got mid-twos and mid-threes in everything,
expect a 1 in game controller. That "1" seems to carry the day.
