(PRWEB) October 16, 2004 -- Two thousand years ago, an old forgotten prophet was exiled to the isle of Patmos for professing Jesus Christ. While there, he experienced an epiphany of the Lord, who said His future return would come during a time when men buy and sell with a mark in their right hand or forehead (Revelation 13:16-17). Ironically, the recent announcement of the FDA's approval of the Veri-Chip, a microchip implant storing medical records produced by Applied Digital Solutions (ADS) helps pave the way for the chip's alternative uses. According to CEO Richard Sullivan, who announced as early as October of 2000, "the company wants to see the chip used for identification and authentication for electronic commerce." This twenty-first century technology was originally developed for the pet and cattle industry. In 2005, Wal-mart plans to test market a similar technology in Texas called the EPC or Electronic Product Code. This microchip replaces the bar code on all products for the purpose of expediting consumer traffic without long checkout lines. Consumers will ultimately exit the store through a portal reader that will automatically deduct their bank account for the purchased products. Strangely, the portal reader was developed for tracking cattle as well.
