A lot probably depends on what tosser/scanner and mailer you'll be running.
When I made the transition from Opus 1.14 to Maximus 2.01wb waaaaaay back 
when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I opted to run Squish and Front Door along 
with Maximus.  Given that I was running QM with Opus 1.14 and Opus' internal 
mailer essentially the easiest thing was a new Maximus install with total 
disregard for anything that had to do with Opus.
In other words, there were no pitfalls because it was like starting over.
You probably won't regret the transition but most diehard Opusoids initially 
miss Oman.
I expect you're running under DOS since you're still running Opus 1.73a so 
you'll need MAX301C.* and MAX301R.* to get you going.
