Take a look for a new FDC NOTAM changing the transponder suffixes.  /R will 
no longer mean RNAV equipped.
I also understand this is part of a plan to allow the use of previously 
unused 1,000 foot interval altitudes by specially equipped airplanes flown by 
pilots with specific training.
