Replying to a message from JIM WELLER 1:123/140 to GORD HANNAH, About Native Alcoholism, On Wed Sep 22 2004 JW> Now that's sad. I wonder if AA subtly excludes them or if the JW> organization just doesn't appeal to them? Not at all attendance is encouraged. I think it has more to do with for lack of a better term reverse prejudice, the natives claiming that they are different than others when in comes to addictions and alcoholism, NOPE a drunk is a drunk no matter what. JW> Ironically my BIL got treated successfully at the Poundmaker Lodge. That is very good facility Legal, AB ought to be proud to have it in their area, I have heard glowing reports of it and Henwood, just north east of Edmonton. JW> He was probably the only white guy there. He celebrated 10 years JW> alcohol free last month. Good for him, if I do what I am supposed to and don't drink it will be 30 years in December. Hope this helps. Keep us posted. We are a fine board trying to make it better. http://www.pris.bc.ca/ghannah ghannah{at}pris.bc.ca Cheers!
