I grew up in Philadelphia, and listened to Ashburn and Harry Kalas all my
ife
for Phillies games. I've never heard one w/o 'em, I think. That'll be
depressing next time I go to listen to one in Philly. :(
My fav Richie Ashburn story is this (true story)...
Richie was up at bat, and hit a foul ball and hit a woman in the stands.
After
a time to check her out, she had to be carried out on a stretcher. When she
got moving, play resumed. Guess what? While they were carrying her out on
the
stretcher, he hit her AGAIN with another foul ball!
It's actually a fairly well known story if you grew up in Philly.
