| subject: | Trash or Treasure... 2B |
On or about: 07-02-08 11:32, Ardith Hinton did engage James Bradley regarding, but not limited to: Trash or Treasure... 2B. AH> has encouraged me to keep picking away at it.... :-) JB> But you *are* gaining on it? AH> Eek! You had to ask that, didn't you? Okay... I can see AH> empty space where there wasn't any a few months ago. I have to I look at empty spaces as room to stage other sorting operations. I just lost two open spaces, devoting them to bed mattresses. AH> be careful not to let stuff pile up in other areas while AH> I'm busy there, though. And I don't expect others to AH> notice the difference. You must do these things to please AH> yourself.... ;-) That's always a good motivation! I just lost my bus space I was planning again for the wood shop, as some arse started to sift through the pile of fence boards I just prepped. I think they only stole some scraps, which I'd have been happy to give them, but when they take the liberty to trespass for something so trivial, I have to deter them whenever I can. /-: AH> ... "collectibles" are AH> what your mother threw out while "antiques" are what your AH> grandmother threw out! The arborite may be more appealing AH> to some folks nowadays. I don't imagine it will have the AH> same appeal in a century or more, however, even if it is AH> still usable. There may be better man-made materials AH> available & there may be more folks who recognize that AH> "real wood" usually meant "compressed sawdust" during the AH> present time... [wry grin]. That binder never burns like the real deal. AH> Uh-huh. We think it's fun when we get snow, but AH> it's a novelty here. It doesn't hang around for nine months AH> as it does in other places... [chuckle]. Ya... As the sister visiting from Vancouver just reminded me. I get to send her back tomorrow. AH> four people had brought sushi we gorged on California AH> rolls. :-)) Ah... Rub salt in that wound, why don'cha? It occurs to me, I may have never eaten raw fish. AH> With a bit of mayonnaise, I find canned salmon AH> quite edible. And one can eat the bones, which are a good AH> source of calcium.... :-) That was my breakfast/lunch. (I just had an eighteen hour "night".) It just might be my supper too! AH> Although you don't want to be ruled by fear & AH> ignorance, you see that AH> ... together with greed... they rule much of the world. In this area, You've heard, "Don't let fear and ignorance stop you."? That might be the same 'coin' you speak of, but definitely the other side. AH> the best time to buy gas is the weekend following a long AH> weekend (so the gas company can prove they don't *always* AH> raise prices on weekends) or on weekday evenings when the AH> vast majority of commuters are already at home. I imagine AH> you have to make the most of limited financial resources, AH> as we do. There's a fine line between responsible money AH> management & panic buying sometimes. But because you AH> already know that & you've been thinking about it, I'm not AH> worried about *you*.... :-) Be worried. Be very, very worried. I dropped $300 into my bus, van, and three jerry-cans this May, before its long weekend. The two jerry-cans, and the van just ran out, and the price I pay today is $.39/L more than I payed then. If I wasn't expecting to use the bus more, I'd consider draining its tank to feed the daily commuter. I sure miss the propane powered 1/2 ton, and my 3-cylinder 4-WD. The sub-compact has winter boots on it, and the truck needs new boots - and a bit of work - before it'll pass inspection. AH> You're thinking the way I'm thinking... a beautiful piece of AH> art, and a wonderful bit of history, has been lost forever. AH> Only the rich can afford to own such things now because AH> many of the people who owned them previously didn't AH> appreciate what they had. I imagine those who paid umpty AH> gazillion dollars for them are laughing all the way to the AH> bank because they're still rare... (sigh). I complained about the lack of TVs at second hand stores when we were stuck in Vancouver on 9-11-01. A friend said I should have visited the rich areas, as they often have estates that don't realize the value of furniture, and she began rattling off the pieces of Victorian stuff she bought from Kits Beach. We were four blocks from there, and I didn't even drive through it. AH> Seen in a tagline: I'm weird, but I'm saving up AH> to be eccentric. ;-) When you *are* eccentric, you save up to be in jail?* Origin: -=-= Calgary Organization CDN (403) 242-3221 (1:342/77) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 90/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 249/303 250/306 SEEN-BY: 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1418 280/1027 320/119 393/68 396/45 633/104 SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 342/77 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
