I, too, have been getting dumped off recently.  Am not on AOL but do
run 486 with IE4.0 and a 33.6 MODEM, all under Windows95.  Have
complained to my ISP but he tries to lay it off on
Ameritec (telephone service in this area.)
My 486 has been acting up for some time but I think the problem is
not the 486 but is IE4.0.  Can't prove it, though.  Also, I don't
think that IE4.0 would be easy to remove.  It modifies Windows95
in too many ways.  You might be able to remove the IE portion but
not the other modifications it has added to the Windows OS.
Only thing I can think of is to reformat the HD and reinstall
Windows and IE3.0.
Has anyone else noticed uncalled-for dumps from the Internet while
running IE4.0?
