Perfect Disk is one of the only programs I've found (I'm sure there are
more), that will actually shrink the size of the MFT. For example, like
George demonstrated, put a gazillion 1kb files on a disk, and the MFT gets
quite large. Delete them, and the MFT stays the same (at least in earlier
versions of NTFS is didn't shrink.
Perfect Dick can reclaim that space.
I've found it to be ultra reliable.
They've also got server versions as well.
