I've heard of this yeah and yes it is crock. It's a stereotype :)
Granted it can be true but it's certainly not an absolute which is how
a lot of people think.
I think being 'quite' and preferring solitude is only a problem if
the person who prefers this is pestered and harrassed enough by those
who think he or she SHOUULDN'T be that way. Know what I mean? Many of
our 'social issues' are created not by differences but by those
unwilling to tolearte and accept them. (Note: Tolerance does not mean
acccetpance. Some folks 'tolerate' simply by avoidance which in some
cases is the only thing one CAN do to 'get along.'..
hmm... "Some cases" being say personality characteristics we find
impossable to deal and stay sane at the same time - such as say oh..
obnoxious, arrogant, nit picky, self-absorbed sort of behavior. Some
people just laugh this off which is prolly healthy but some of us
well, we just can't stand it so we stay away whichis prolly healthy
too.... for us.

The gun guy !
Funny how it is 'the quite stone gathers the most moss' is also held
dear. Methinks the first "adage" refers to quite and brooding /
unsocable/ looks angry all the time ... sort of person. A bomb waiting
to happen sort of person.
