WM>Never had the occasion to see it on props, but have been struck by
WM>lighning in flight a few times... not even around a CB. The first
WM>time, the bang was so loud that I thought one of the starboard engines
WM>had exploded. My adrenaline meter slammed over to MAX and sat there.
Woah hoss!
you just reminded me of my first lightening strike, was flying co-pilot
on a B-29 when lightening struck the pitot tube located about 4 feet in
front of me, Whole crew was blind for a short time but was on autopilot
and lightening did not blind it. It scares me to look back at the stupid
things we did back then. Aborted a mission (lost an engine) loaded with
10, 2000 lb mines that Japan needed real bad in their waterway and we
had to dump the mines so we went back and cut the chutes off and dropped
the mines and we majored in deep sea fishing and pyrotechnics that nite.
We were dumber than stumps but luck was with us and we lived thru it.
