subject: Texas Is Hot, That`s What

BF>> Decent 94F.... then we're sweating our guts out.

CS> Well, remember also I dont deal with cold like you do.

When it's cold it's always possible to put on more clothes but it's another
thing to take clothes off when it's warm when you're nekkid.

CS> I'm not used to it like you are.

Don't talk about it. It's soon time to take out the winter clothes and put the
winter tires on the cars. (Shrudder)

CS> My acclimation for that stops at 30F (-1C? Might be called
CS> 0C though it's just a touch under freezing water at 32F). Anything under
CS> 40F, and I dont walk anywhere unless I have no choice (such as going to
 CS> work).

30F is -1.1C and as I said to Roger, a sunny day with 20F and 2 feet snow
is just as beautiful as a day on the beach.
Just imagine to walk in the woods and see tracks in the snow from moose,
deer, fox and where a mouse's life ends. There you can see marks of a big
birds wings and claws.

CS> For me, anything up to 42C is quite workable. The summer months in the
CS> gulf back in 2004 were pretty rough though as we were often over 50C and
CS> that sucks. (for the C challanged out there, 50C is 120F). 50C on a steel
 CS> ship is no fun.

Once in Greece it was 50C so I have a clue about how it can be on a steel ship.

CS> The worst was when I had to climb the aft mast to do a
CS> maintenance check. The 'goop' we use on the antennas was melting at all
CS> the connectors and we had to scrape it off and reapply it several times.

Don't you have better stuff than that?

CS> BTW, in addition to being able to handle heat, I am one of the better ones
CS> with heights. I've seen grown men bust out in tears at the mere idea of
CS> having to do some of these checks, so I learned how to do them because I
CS> just cant assign one of my men to do something I wont, and I would rather
CS> not assign someone to do something they are really scared to do when I can
CS> do it and it doesnt scare me. (Ok, long sentance there but you got the
 CS> idea).

Yup. Don't like hights either and not caves either. Almost panic in a 7 room
cave when in Thailand. It was so small and narrow so I had to go with left or
right side first.

CS> Life in the Navy can be quite interesting at times. I'm glad I chose it,
CS> but it's not for everyone.

It is for me, as the ships CO.
