Yes, fidonet standards might be not the same as the ones used somewhere else.
It's like kilobyte and kibibyte. The SI unit for 1000 bytes is 1 kilobyte and
for 1024 bytes it's 1 kibibyte. But JEDEC, explicitly mentioning that
contradiction, defines 1 kilobyte as 1024 bytes, because it commonly used that
way.
