Bruce Marshall gave up a long homer to Otis Nixon and said:
BM> the Braves broadcasts, they seem to thhink that it's Neagle in a walk
I'm not that impressed with Neagle. Neagle's ERA has been a lot better but
earlier in the season, he was being bailed out by Atlanta's offense.
BM> over, but, with Pedro's very low ERA, I can't see how the writers can
BM> overlook him.
Martinez' ERA has gone up recently and those writers may look at his 16-7
record and wonder why he's *only* 16-7. That's not to say that he's any good
but the perceptions haven't changed in years. I don't think that a lot of
those writers even bother looking at run support and blown saves to
understand why a pitcher with that low of an era is 16-7 instead of 20-3
(What his record *could* be if he was given the *average* run support that
his team has gotten for all pitchers).
