I don't of any pitfalls.  I've always heard it was a pretty easy conversion.  
The latest version of Maximus is 3.01.  The files are named MAX301x.ZIP 
depending on what operating system you want.  "C" is the common files, "P" is 
OS/2, "N" is WIN95/NT, and "R" is DOS.
The only major comsideration is that the 32-bit version will not run with a 
mailer under WIN95.
