I know that the majority of posts here are for The Mechanical aspects
of cars, but I've never been much of a conformer anyways .

And now on to the question at hand. I have a 73 VW SuperBeetle (113),
and I decided that I was getting tired of having to buy a blank tape
everytime I bought a new CD so that I could listen to it in the car. So
I decided that I was going to put in a in-dash CD reciver, so I pulled
out my trusty Crutchfield catalog......one problem, in the listing of
cars the don't have it listed, so I call them and they tell me that
either I stick with the Shaft-style recivers or I'm looking at doing some
hefty modifications (:< ). Well, I'd prefer not to hack the car up too
much because, well...there aren't many left on the roads. So I start
flipping therough the catalog...and there aren't any shaft style CD
Recivers, next option, get a new tape player + a CD changer. For the
tape and changer I'm looking at upwards of $400. What I want to know is
if anyone out there knows of any tricks I can use to put a DIN style in
the designated place, and keep the length of it below 6 1/2 inches,
with AS LITTLE MODIFICATION AS POSSIBLE? Any ideas would help A L O T.
Thanks, laters.
