And all the newer mini and mid tower AT cases I have seen ( which
probably isn't a whole h*ll of a lot compared to what's out there ),
have removable mounting plates(?) to mount the motherboard to so it's as
easy as 1-2-3 to replace/install a motherboard. Just remove 1 or 2
screws, slide the plate out, mount the board, slide it back in and
replace the locking screws. When there are cards installed ( on a
replacement ), you remove them to get them out of the way ( and you'd
have to remove them anyway ). Even in the $20USA on up cases. :)
Most times I convince the user of an older computer who is having a new
motherboard, cpu and memory upgrade to go for the new case. Makes life
a heck of a lot easier. ( I've even "donated" a new $20USA case when
it's been to my benefit )
