Your problem is not what you think it is. The size of the disk or the
fact that it is HPFS has no bearing on the problem. Your problem is
that your disk is viewed by the system as having more than 1023
cylinders. From an OS/2 command prompt enter the command FDISK /QUERY.
If you find a BIOS statement  on the right side of the display with a
limit then that is the limit for DOS programs and FAT formatted
partitions.  For IDE you will need LBA capability or its equivalent to
cure the problem for drives larger than 504MB binary 528MB decimal.  I
should'nt even mention Ontraks DiskManager but it is an option if you
are desperate . For SCSI you will need to turn on the over 1gig
translation option of your controller for drives larger than 1024MB.
