-> The main problem is this...
->
-> I am the sysop of the BBS this message is being posted from. I
-> wouldn't want to float the expense of an echo area that was only ads.
-> What am I going to get out of it, other than a bloated phone bill?
-> Why would I want to pay my hard earned $$, from my own pocket, to
-> allow others to use the messages to promote their scams?
->
-> Even if they are posting legit offers, why should I as a sysop pay
-> for it?
This is very interesting. Could you please explain to me how these newsgroup
echos work? How is it that you get a big phone bill when the callers
themselves dial in to here? What exactly are the expenses that you have, and
how is it that the sysops are getting stuck with them? I'd really like to
know since this would greatly help me to understand this entire topic!
