Calling it a "french kiss" wasn't a credit -- it was an accusation of
depravity towards the entire French nation.

Anything particularly carnal(aka. hell-driven) was deemed "bad" and the
French, as a nation, were all deemed spiritually reprobate, so the
french kiss got its name!

Other nations became common names, too, also because of prevailing
prejudices, like Welsh-anything or Dutch-anything, meaning
unsophisticated (eg. Welsh comb(running your fingers through your hair);
Dutch Auction (diminishing prices, daily, to appeal to those who won't
pay a good price today if they can wait for a better one tomorrow);
Welsh Rabbit (a meatless cheese dish), et al.
