Agreed. I totally understand the setting as well, but there have been quite a
bit of people that don't since it was added, and this is usually the result
until they can be contacted somehow.
I believe this is the only thing I have ever asked to be removed from the
config, since any and all times I've run into another system with it enabled,
it has caused problems. I don't really think there is a need these days for
forcing CRAM-MD5 100% of the time, since that makes it impossible to send
general direct netmail. IMO, it should only be a per defined link setting, and
not a global one.
Maybe even having some huge colorful flashing pop-up when you enable it saying
"Don't be stupid, enabling this won't allow any general connections from anyone
besides defined links in your config!!!"
... or something. ;)
