FG> MS> RS display items have typically been pawed over by just
FG> about
FG> MS> everyone from inept clerks who never read the
FG> MS> manual but are trying to demonstrate the item to
FG> MS> kids wandering through the store wanting to be
FG> MS> "entertained" by pushing buttons. You don't know
FG> MS> their history.
FG>
FG> And they're typically discounted for that reason, so if you're
FG> willing
FG> to take the chance....
FG> I once bought a TV from RS that way. But TV's are a no-brainer
FG> that
FG> don't invite the kind of playing with the controls that scanners can.
FG> A few
FG> cosmetic scratches, but works fine for 10 years.
Be sure all the accessories that are supposedly included are with the
item. RS employees "borrow" such things as AC power supplies or 12V cords to
try out other display items.
