Hi Bob

-> How much money will they make by using your picture as opposed to how much
-> money will they make if they don't use your picture?

Since the word "promotional" was being used, I assume they want it for some
sort of money making purposes. I doubt that there would be much money
involved though, and this person seems to be as unexperienced at what ever
he has in mind as I am at supplying what he needs. That's one of the
reasons I asked the question. Otherwise, it's like the blind leading the
blind. If neither of us knows what we are doing, the whole project might
just go down the drain.

-> there are no shortages of pretty pictures. Price depends on what it is a
-> picture of, and how unique that picture is.

Oh hey, now you have me thinking of another project. I have a friend who
has just recently purchased a resort. He is thinking of making up a new
brochure. Maybe I could get in on that too. I do know more about
producing brochures than he does (having done that for the karate club). I
took a couple of pictures at the property recently, and gave him a couple
of digital prints. He was impressed and wanted to know what kind of camera
he would need to get pictures like that (for those who can't see
that....I'm grinning).

  You are saying selling your
-> picture, so I assume you are actually selling all rights to that picture,
-> not just renting it for one use and you retain the rights to sell it again
-> at a later date.

Not unless I have to. I doubt that I have to.
->
-> Digital should have no bearing on the price, as anything that would be used
-> in an area where a high price would be justified will be digitized by the
-> buyer anyway.

Good point.  Silly me!

  If the picture is to be used in a digital environment, then
-> use Photoshop and put your name on it. If there is a substantial sum of
-> money involved, then buy a digimark from the company listed in the
-> Photoshop filter that places marks and reads them.

Another good point. Thanks for responding.

Karen
