Sounds like the problem my daughter has.  I found out that they had a
problem with a particular brand of dsl modems they are now using.  The
biggest problems occurred while usig the USB connection.  I cant
recall the modems they used though.

  What exactly is the problem with PPPoE?  The router does all the
logins
