I think it would be better if all users (not just admins) got a tray =
notification by default. Clicking on the shield as a non-admin should =
bring up a dialog with an "enter admin password" prompt, and
possibly a = "do not tell me about updates any more" checkbox.
Users could elect to = reenable notification in a new field in the current
Automatic Updates = dialog.
On second thought, I don't like the idea of programs prompting for an =
admin password. It would be ripe for password-stealing trojans. Maybe =
prompting the user to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to enter the admin password =
would be appropriate.
