My father is declining rapidly, but he's recovered from the pneumonia better and lasted a lot longer than any of the drs thought he would in March when they were guessing 2 weeks to 2 months - now they're saying maybe 6 months or a little more as the cancer continues to progress. I finally threw in the towel and hired a caregiver a couple of weeks ago since he began to require so much care that even a very liberal tele-commuting/flexible hours policy wasn't enough. There are only so many hours in the day, and working what was essentially two full-time jobs got the best of me. The caregiver is an expensive solution but, so far, well worth it. And it's cheaper than a nursing home and lets him stay at home where he wants to be.
