Put this issue aside for the moment (I think its outcome is pretty much
fixed at this point anyhow) and consider what this portends for the future
on many other issues.

And consider just how much the Clintons have gotten away with in general.
Anyone sufficiently lacking in internal moral restraints that reaches the
top and that has a large circle of ideologically motivated and talented
partisans willing to lie on a massive scale can obviously get away with a
great deal. But they have to be fairly talented liars and the press has to
be complaisant. With the right conditions a lot of stuff suddenly becomes
possible.
