Hello Paul!
Replying to a message of Paul Muehlbauer to John Meroth:
PM> Interesting. I thought these fusion plants needed fision to achieve
PM> the heat & pressure to keep the fusion going. They must have done
PM> some interesting things over the past 15 years that I've never paid
PM> attention to. I guess I lost interest in the whole fusion thing when
PM> someone said they will barely produce a few percent of energy over
PM> what they consume. I should have continued to pay attention. :)
I'm not sure how the reaction is triggered, but fission is NOT used to kick
it off.
JM>> Fuel cells running on hydrogen or alcohol are much more
JM>> efficient and, IMNSHO, will be the solution to the electric
JM>> auto's problem.
PM> According to a press release I saw on the internet, Chrysler just made
PM> a big advance in using gasoline to produce hydrogen to run a fuel
PM> cell. Sounded like the power to wieght ratio would be a lot better
PM> than heavy hydrogen tanks.
Very interesting. I wonder what the waste products are in the process.
