  That's only if you are logged on as an administrator. If you are not
  logged in as an administrator, there is no yellow shield in the tray.
  There should be. The only notification you get that there are updates
  waiting is if you happen to select shut down. Not even the log out =
dialog
  indicates there is something waiting. If you don't routinely shutdown
  your computer, it is possible to go days without realizing there is
  something waiting.
