   And they're typically discounted for that reason, so if you're willing to 
take the chance....
 
   I once bought a TV from RS that way. But TV's are a no-brainer that don't 
invite the kind of playing with the controls that scanners can. A few 
cosmetic scratches, but works fine for 10 years.
