In the US, we have no obligation to provide TVI or other filters for
someone who is getting RF interference from our radio equipment. Am I to
understand in England you are *required* to do that? Here if a neighbor
claims interference, we refer them to the Federal Communication
Commission (the regulator of RF producing equipment in the US). The FCC
will mail the complainent a booklet that tells him how to identify the
source of the interference, what products (filters etc) he may have to
buy (himself) to reduce the interference and gives other factual data,
basically telling him that it is *his* problem, not the hams problem,
assuming it is a ham that causes the interference.
Also, all consumer products made for sale in the US come with a warning
label and a booklet that says the product *is* susceptable to RFI. Is
this not true for England as well?
You might suggest the owner of the play station simply wrap the station
in in aluminum foil to see if that cures the problem. If it does, there
is simply no way the unshielded device can be cured otherwise.
