From: "Frank Haber" These afffect antiquarians for sure (corp weirdo client apps, mostly, I'd guess). Also folks who want to run Ethereal, et. al. under XP. More edge-case testing needed? I'd say. A mass exodus of sentient beta testers, who use these things? Perhaps. 1. KB911280 breaks CompuServe Classic dial-in (and probably all script-based dial-ins). Uninstall is the workaround. 2. The latest WGA excrescence has been loaded with yet another unrelated function. Entirely legit copies of XP SP1 get the annoy-item in the tray. The balloon can be disabled, with yet another trip to the mothership. The tray gadget and its rollover remain, a non-removable reminder that October is your drop-dead date for security support. Does every MS division get to load this obnoxious spyware with their own private crusade? Sheesh. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 106/2000 633/267 |
