These afffect antiquarians for sure (corp weirdo client apps, mostly, I'd
guess).  Also folks who want to run Ethereal, et. al. under XP.

More edge-case testing needed?  I'd say. A mass exodus of sentient beta
testers, who use these things? Perhaps.

1. KB911280 breaks CompuServe Classic dial-in (and probably all
script-based dial-ins). Uninstall is the workaround.

2. The latest WGA excrescence has been loaded with yet another unrelated
function.  Entirely legit copies of XP SP1 get the annoy-item in the tray.
The balloon can be disabled, with yet another trip to the mothership.  The
tray gadget and its rollover remain, a non-removable reminder that October
is your drop-dead date for security support.

Does every MS division get to load this obnoxious spyware with their own
private crusade?  Sheesh.
