Yes but the downside is you might hit a computer as you spray hot led
around the office.

Actually I'm working on it. One of the biggies for us is the printed
catalog. It's 1008 pages of information that would be difficult at best to
entirely incorporate into our database. I believe conversion of this to
computer, so it's searchable quickly, would be the turning point where they
begin to realize how not using paper can be an advantage.

So today I enabled searching this massive book quickly, check out
www.ppe.com new search feature. I'm still working on doc titles but it's up
and running full speed so you can get a feel for how long a complete search
takes. New/changed pages are integrated into the search within about 5-10
seconds of being placed on the site.

The initial reaction from employees who use the book all day has been very
positive, which is why I put it out there for customers to use as well. At
this point it's just an online catalog, ordering is still done via a
separate online ordering system that's tied directly into our database
(checks order status, stock status, ect) and requires a login but the
catalog is wide open to all.
