It is beautiful in its simplicity and since the thermostat can be had
from a dead freezer it can be very cheap.

I had an idea for using a 7555 timer (cmos version of 555). Basically
record how often the freezer turns on and then set the 7555 to detect
when the freezer misses a cycle. But yours is by far the best I've
seen. Great thinking!
