BF>>> Don't you have better stuff than that?

CS>> Thats the best there is. It's all weather stuff so can
CS>> take the cold or the heat. You have to have it that way or
CS>> if the ship goes through a cold location, the antenna goop
CS>> will mess up the connections.

BK>> We used to use "goop" for heavy connections. Switched to a 3-m
BK>> tape, non-adhesive, just sticks to itself. Grey stuff, wrap it
BK>> tight and it seals pretty good. Use ordinarly electrical tape to
BK>> hold it in place.

CS> You have to try some of the climates we are in. scotscote
CS> is GOD. There is no

CS> 'tape' that can last 6 months in places we go. The 'goop'
 CS> is good normally for

CS> a year to 1.5 years. Gulf heat though? 4-5 months. Tapes
CS> wouldnt last 3 weeks at best in that environment.

The tape is used on motor connections. Those run at temperatures
that would burn you. It lasts years and years. It's scotch brand
70 silicone rubber self fusing tape. Don't know the RF
characteristics, only that is has excellent insulating and
 moisture protection. Temp over 300F.

What we loved was it doesn't coat everything with goop. It comes
off easy, just cut it, pull it off and it comes off clean.
