subject: Portability

Hullo All , hope you are having a nice day!!
Well, I've been learning C/C++ for seven months, and I've heard a lot
about portability, to make my code portable and so on....But nobody has
told me in which cases can I apply it, yet.....
I mean, it's great to have a code that can be executed on several Operative
Systems, but I haven't found a program that is portable (or else I haven't
realised), so that I don't understand why is it so important for a code to
be portable......
Well, If you got the right answer, I'd be pleased to hear about it!! :)
