| subject: | Re: WinUpchuck, WGA slow down boot? |
From: "Frank Haber" Update: Both machines in question were XP Pro, with a couple of unpassworded admin accounts, which were also enabled for "debugger users" (don't remember changing policies/groups for that). Login was set to the Win2k method, but with blank password. Fast user switching was disabled. So far, that's what I set, except for the "debugger" thing. BUT! AND! Somehow, "offline files" had gotten set. Unset same. This seems to have cured most of the slow-boot problem. I also found some printers set to "use while offline." Cleared those, for good measure, and set up another clean admin user, in case I'm about to be bit with account corruption. Onwards and upwards. Moral: don't trust; check.
